Graphic Recording

Invite me into your room (in-person or over the internet) and I'll deeply listen and craft a large-scale visual in real-time which will resonate long after the room clears.

Live graphic recording for your events, meetings, workshops, summits, and offsites.

Palaces for the People

What This Looks Like

By capturing your conversations in real-time through text and visuals, I help groups see their own thinking. The themes, tensions, decisions, and the connections between them, made visible on the wall as they happen. This demonstrates that every voice is being heard, and surfaces themes and connections that might otherwise be missed. People leave with a shared picture of what was actually said, not just a set of notes. Literally all on the same page.

Graphic recording is one way I help groups see what they already know, and surface what might be. It's often the first thing people bring me in for, and sometimes it's where the real work starts. If what surfaces on the wall points to something deeper — a recurring pattern, a decision that keeps stalling, a team that can't quite name what's in its way — that's the organizational design and facilitation work at the center of Where Light Gathers. Graphic Recording Rates

I charge by the half-day or full day, depending on the scope of your project. My fee includes a 30-minute scoping call to connect and understand what you need; materials and drawing supplies; live graphic recording at the agreed rate; digital copies of all graphics; and a 30-minute follow-up call one month after your event to reflect on what surfaced and where it might go next.

Additional costs such as travel, accommodations, and shipping of materials (if needed) are not included. I require a 50% deposit to reserve your date.

Half-day covers up to ~3.5 hours on-site. Full day covers up to ~7–8 hours on-site. Set-up and breakdown typically add 60 to 90 minutes beyond runtime.

Sliding Scale

I believe money shouldn't be the reason good work doesn't happen with good people. My rate is scaled to organizational capacity. Tell me where you sit and we'll meet you there.

How It Works

  1. Scoping call (30 min) — what's the event, who's in the room, what are you hoping to surface?
  2. Prep — I build a visual language/template suited to your content. Based on your company style guide if appropriate.
  3. Live scribing — half or full day, on-site (includes 60-90 minutes for tech prep, setup, and teardown).
  4. Delivery + follow-up — digital copies same/three business days; a 30-min follow-up call one month later to revisit what surfaced

You created an environment where it was safe and comforting for people like me to speak up. That in itself is the most precious thing IMO.

I think the way you engage with people is non-threatening, even when engaging around uncomfortable subject matter.

FAQ

Virtual vs. in-person?

  • I am able to join your room in person, or remotely from my home office.

Analog or Digital?

  • Either way you'll receive digital copies of everything we do together.
  • I can work analog-first by creating the graphic recording on a whiteboard, large pieces of paper, or boards (you keep these to hang in your office).
  • Also, I can work digital-first on an iPad. With co-ordination from your tech/facilities/video folks, we can even stream my screen on a large monitor in the room so that the participants/audience can watch the drawing unfold in real-time. This supports what's being said in the room.

What if we don't know exactly what the session will cover?

  • I've spent 10+ years as an improvisor — performing on stage without a script. In our scoping call we can discuss any info that sets the stage for me to improvise visually. As long as we have your thoughts on any common themes or a salient point you hope to surface, your company objectives, or team dynamics as a baseline, we can work together effectively.

Who keeps the original analog artwork?

  • You do. For analog engagements, you keep the original artwork — many clients hang it in their office or use it as a lasting artifact of the event. I retain high-resolution digital copies of everything created, which you're also free to use internally or externally. I may use images of the piece in my own portfolio, case studies, and marketing. If your event includes sensitive or confidential content, flag it during scoping and we'll agree on limits before the session.

How far in advance should we book?

  • 30 days in advance but 45 days is preferred. Additional costs may occur if traveling within 30 days. Note: I'll let you know as soon as possible if I'm already booked. Where it makes sense, I can suggest a nearby date, or refer you to another graphic recorder or facilitator in my network who might be a good fit. I'd rather point you toward someone good than leave you stuck.

Do you travel?

  • Yes, see above.

Do you have an event coming up? Let's talk about what you're hoping to make visible.
